Latest Free Upgrade (5.0.9)
The latest free upgrade, version 5.0.9, went live today.
It is recommended for all version 5 users. To learn more,
visit the Latest
Free Upgrade page on the Family Historian site. Version
5.0.9 has been available as a 'release candidate' for weeks,
so you may already have it; but it has only now been officially
released. If you're not sure which version you're on, click
on 'About Family Historian' on the Help menu within the program,
or click on 'Check for Updates' - also on the Help menu (unless
you have a very old version).

Featured Plugins
We plan to make this a regular feature of Family Historian
Bulletins. In each issue we will highlight a couple of stand-out
plugins in the Plugin
Store that are worth looking at, if you haven't already
got them. There are a lot of great plugins, so it's not easy
to single any out, but we thought that Jane Taubman's Ancestor's
UK Census Checker definitely deserves a mention. It checks
all the ancestors of a selected person, and creates a web
page with links you can click on to search Ancestry or Find
My Past for missing census records. It is a great boon for
finding missing census information. Keir Strugnell has already
taken the idea and modified it to produce a Canadian version
(Ancestors
Canada Census Checker). Let's hope someone does the same
thing for the U.S. and other countries soon.
The other plugin that we thought we wanted to mention is
Mike Tate's Find
Duplicate Individuals plugin. It's easy for duplicates
to crop up in any family tree file, so Mike did Family Historian
users a great service by writing that. The latest version
of this plugin requires version 5.0.7 or later of Family Historian
