Family Historian at Who Do You Think You Are? Live at the NEC Birmingham (April 6-8)

The world's largest family history show, Who Do You Think You Are? Live, is taking place in the NEC in Birmingham, in the UK, between 6-8 April.  We will be there (stand 219) demonstrating Family Historian, so come over and say hello!  It's a great chance to pick up a copy of the software, or the book Getting the Most from Family Historian 6, at a discount show price. Simon Orde, the creator of Family Historian, will be there for all three days, and will be doing a presentation on Getting the Most from Family Historian Charts & Diagrams in Theatre 2, on Saturday, April 8th (10-11 am).

Win Free Tickets to the Show!

We're giving away 20 free tickets to Who Do You Think You Are? Live as competition prizes.  The competition is to guess the number of plugins in the Family Historian Plugin Store as of 15th March 2017.  The choices are:

(a) 18 plugins
(b) 48 plugins
(c) 78 plugins

Hint: 'Plugins' are extensions to the main program, written by Family Historian users.  The Family Historian Plugin Store is on the Family Historian website.

The tickets are one-day tickets, valid for any of the 3 days.  Send your answer by email to competition@family-historian.co.uk. Please specify your full name and postal address, and the number of tickets you require (max 2).  Prize-winners will be picked from amongst correct answers received on or before March 19th.  No more than one entrant per address please.  We will notify you by email if you have won, and the tickets will be posted to you.

Introducing Charting Companion

Family Historian offers extensive charting features and options, but you can extend the range of charts available to you even further by installing Charting Companion. The program, written by Progeny Genealogy, features a number of charts that are not currently provided by Family Historian, such as a Fractal Tree, Dandelion Chart, Descendant Fan Chart, and Trellis Chart.  It even supports Embroidery charts and 3D Printing.

Charting Companion installs as a companion product for Family Historian and displays charts using the data already contained in your Family Historian projects. The installation automatically adds a Family Historian plugin (that is, add-on feature) which means that you can run it directly from within Family Historian. To do so, click Plugins on the Tools menu, select Charting Companion in the list, and click Run. To make it even easier to access, you can add Charting Companion to the Tools menu (before clicking Run, click the More button, and then tick Add to Tools Menu).

You can learn more on the Family Historian website, or see chart examples below.  You can buy Charting Companion, at an exceptionally competitive price, directly from the Family Historian Store.
